His experience in the construction industry dates back to his years in high school when he worked for a homebuilder. Following a short attempt to continue his education at York College in York, PA, he found a new direction in the U.S. Navy. His physical and mental capacity was tested time and time again as he pursued a new career with the Underwater Demolition and Seal Team in Little Creek, VA. Charlie’s home building experience continued in 1972 after the Navy, at which time he decided to make home building his lifelong career.
Charlie relocated to Colorado from Virginia in 1974 and his love for building continued and expanded into residential painting and carpentry. In the late 70’s Charlie found the girl of his dreams and married Nancy in September of 1980. A few years later Charlie, along with a partner, formed a construction company specializing in framing, interior trim, and cabinetry work.
With experience in almost every aspect of the home building process, Charlie decided to start his own custom home business. Since 1986, C.R. Shea Homes, Inc. has built over 170 luxury homes. His clientele includes some of Colorado Springs’ most successful leaders and business owners.
Charlie has participated as a member of the National and Colorado Springs Homebuilders Association where he has served three 3-year terms as a Director. He has chaired on the Smart Green Council and is a former member of a Builder 20 Club, which is an alliance of custom home builders who network to find innovative solutions to better builder practices. Charlie is a past President of The Registry, Prospectors and a former Board of Director of the El Paso Club. He has served as a member of the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Board of Directors. Charlie has numerous pastimes such as, hunting, fishing, golfing, boating, skiing, camping, and basically all other outdoor activities. Nancy and Charlie have been married 35 years and have two magnificent children; CJ (32) and Lindsey (30).
Nancy is an integral part of the C.R. Shea Homes building team. All of her building experience has come from on-the-job training over the last 25 years. Her organizational skills and holding the company to tasks are an invaluable component of creating a unique building experience for their clients. Prior to working with Charlie, she worked in the mortgage and title industry for 6 years in both Colorado Springs and Grand Junction, CO. Nancy met and married Charlie in Boulder where she not only grew up, but worked in both the recreation and medical industries. After leaving Boulder, Nancy went on to attend Colorado State University. Nancy enjoys being with her son and daughter, gardening, traveling, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
